Federer flattered by Sampras comments

Roger Federer says he's flattered to hear that Pete Sampras has tipped the Swiss superstar to accrue as many as 10 Wimbledon crowns before he's done with tennis.

Federer, who opens his latest title defence tonight against Colombian Alejandro Falla, is hoping to equal Sampras's modern-day record seven titles at the All England Club.

But the American believes it's inevitable the 16-times grand slam champion will not only surpass his tally, but absolutely smash it.

Sampras said Roger could win 10 Wimbledon titles.

Federer, the last player to beat Sampras at Wimbledon back in 2001, was humbled by the American's prediction.

The Swiss says that's nice of him, and obviously his game's made for grass..... he definitely thinks every time he plays, he has a chance to win in Wimbledon.
