The top seeds Jaclyn Hawkes and Joelle King have both had comfortable straight games victories first up in the women's draw at the North Island squash championships in Hamilton.
Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight both had byes in the men's draw, which was rejigged following the withdrawal of third seed George Crosby.
Hawkes opened her account with an 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 win over Waikato's Nadine Cull while King was even more convincing in an 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 victory over Auckland's Georgina Shelton-Agar.
