Hayne on report as Eels beat Storm

7:51 am on 5 June 2010

Jarryd Hayne and his opposite Billy Slater will both be sweating on the NRL's judiciary ahead of rugby league's State of Origin II next week, after Hayne's Eels beat Slater's Storm 24-10 at Parramatta - and they also beat each other up.

The Parramattah and Melbourne fullbacks clashed in the 62nd minute in Friday night's spiteful Grand Final rematch with Hayne put on report for a headbutt.

Slater waited for his next tackle on Hayne to put an elbow into the Eels custodian's head during a trademark Storm group tackle.

Slater was sin-binned for that along with Eels halfback Daniel Mortimer after the incident sparked a brawl, and the Storm fullback may join Hayne on the Origin sidelines with the incident sure to come under the watchful eye of the match review committee.

The Eels led 10-6 at half-time. In the night's other match Kiwis captain Benji Marshall scored a try as his Wests Tigers won at the Bulldogs' home in Sydney, 19-12.
