The 25 year old Aucklander has been included in his Belgian Wanty-Groupe Gobert's 8-man roster.

Jack Bauer is the other New Zealander competing.

On social media Smith said, "An unreal opportunity to line up for another lap of letourdefrance."

Another couple of New Zealanders are in line for selection for the Tour although George Bennet won't be there with his plan for 2018 to ride the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta Espana.
