Five National Rugby League club chief executives will review the code's salary cap, in response to the Melbourne Storm's recently uncovered rort of more than $2 million.
Change is in the air as the NRL looks to find ways to keep players in league, rather than losing them to higher-paid rival codes such as Australian Rules and rugby.
The NRL's also revealed that the average player earns just over $200,000, compared to more than $281,000 in the AFL.
Kiwis captain Benji Marshall is worried the likes of Melbourne's highly paid stars will be lost to rugby league, but he's got a solution: pay them more to play for Australia and their State of Origin sides.
Marshall says the likes of Cameron Smith and Billy Slater have nothing to play for, so all they can look forward to is representative football - and that's where the ruling body can make a difference outside the salary cap.
He thinks there's a lot of reasons for players to leave and the NRL needs to find more reasons for them to stay.
Marshall also wants clubs rewarded for developing and retaining players.
Meanwhile his Kiwis are at extremely long odds in Friday's ANZAC clash in Melbourne - the TAB's listed them at $4.40 outsiders to the Kangaroos' $1.18.
