Coming off back-to-back victories at the Commonwealth Games and Japan leg of the series, the Kiwi side will be looking to continue that momentum in Canada.

Boosting that is the return of experienced squad member Tui, who was ruled out of the previous two tournaments with illness.

"Ruby is amazing; she has been jumping out of her skin to get back out there," New Zealand coach Allan Bunting said.

"She enhances our environment on and off the field and as a leader brings so much to our squad.

"We have been happy with the results but there is always room to improve. For us we need to look at our execution under pressure and making sure we are making good decisions at those times.

Pouri-Lane, who sat on the bench for Commonwealth Games final before helping to lead the New Zealand under-18 team to Oceania Championship glory, is in line for a debut on the World Series.

"Halfback is a difficult position and one that we are trying to grow depth in which is why we have selected Risi," Bunting said.

"She may only just be out of school but she is a mature player that is learning and growing quickly."

The tournament kicks off on Sunday, May 13 (NZ time) and New Zealand face Brazil, England and Fiji in pool play.

New Zealand squad: Shakira Baker, Michaela Blyde, Kelly Brazier, Gayle Broughton, Theresa Fitzpatrick, Sarah Goss, Tyla Nathan-Wong, Risi Pouri-Lane, Ruby Tui, Stacey Waaka, Niall Williams, Tenika Willison, Portia Woodman.
