The Queensland Firebirds have shaken up the trans-Tasman netball championship by thrashing the defending champion Melbourne Vixens 62-41 in Brisbane.
It's the previously-unbeaten Vixens' worst defeat and their coach Julie Hoornweg virtually conceded the game at halftime when she benched skipper Sharelle McMahon with Queensland leading by 16.
The 21-goal win is a a triumph for the Firebirds' new coach Roselee Jencke who started the season with three losses. Now Queensland are 3-3 and on the cusp of the top four.
Tomorrow night the Central Pulse play the Southern Steel in Wellington and the West Coast Fever host the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Perth.
