Crowe's cricketing memorabilia to go under the hammer

The bat the late Martin Crowe scored his last test century with will be sold off as part of actor Russell Crowe's "Art of Divorce" auction in Sydney next week.

Crowe's actor cousin Russell Crowe is auctioning off 227 lots in order to settle his divorce with Australian actress and singer Danielle Spencer.

The items include the bat Crowe used in his final test in 1994 at Old Trafford against England when he scored 115 - his 17th test century.

Also included is the bat he scored 142 with at Lord's on the same tour.

Other lots include Crowe's New Zealand Cricket blazer and an autographed shirt and cap he wore at the 1992 World Cup in New Zealand when he captained the side which narrowly missed out on making the final.

Sotheby's in Sydney expect the bats to fectch about $5000 while the estimate on the shirt and cap is $1000-$2000 and the blazer $600-800.

Cricket fans Adam Gilshnan has started a Givealittle page in a bid to buy some of Martin Crowe's cricket gear so it can be held at the national Cricket Museum in Wellington.

There are 277 lots in total - most of them movie memorabilia - including a fully operational Roman chariot from the movie Gladiator.

The auction is expcted to earn $4 million.
