Samoa have beaten New Zealand 24-21 in the Hong Kong final to take the lead in the IRB rugby sevens series.
It is Samoa's third straight tournament victory and they now have a 3 point lead over the New Zealanders with 2 tournaments remaining.
The New Zealand captain DJ Forbes feels they beat themselves in the final and a couple of calls didn't go their way which also would have helped.
He says they need to work on their defence in the remaining 2 events.
New Zealand beat Kenya 21-12 in the quarter-finals and Fiji 33-28 in the semi-finals
So in the standings Samoa have 124 points , New Zeraland 121 and Fiji 94 with the next event in England in May followed by Scotland.
