Ko and new caddy split

New Zealand's world golf number one Lydia Ko is in the market for another caddie, again.

Ko, who tied for second in Hawaii at the weekend, her best finish this season, is splitting with caddie Gary Matthews.

Her management team confirmed the split to the Golf Channel, with the South African caddie leaving after just nine events with the 19 year old.

Ko's next tournament is in Texas at the end of the month and her team said she was still talking to potential candidates.

It has been a year of change for Ko.

Not only has she taken on a new caddy but also a new coach and she also has a new swing and new clubs.

The second place in Hawaii has been a major confidence boost for Ko given her below par results this year.

After the Hawaii event Ko said "considering where I was after the first day (of this tournament) I'm pretty pleased with where I've finished."

After a first round one over par 73, Ko was in danger of missing the cut but she recovered with a three under par second round.

She kept on improving but gave herself little chance of winning on the final day.

"I just wanted to give myself as many opportunities as I could and with the wind not being as high and as strong compared to the other days I knew that the birdies were out there and especially with the way the girls are playing you know you need to make a fair amount of birdies," Ko said.

The tournament marked Ko's last as a teenager - she turns 20 on April 24th, but she has been at the top of the world rankings for the past 76 weeks.
