Chinese referees taken in for match-fixing

Four of China's top football referees have been taken for questioning by police investigating match-fixing, state media has reported.

The Global Times newspaper has named the four as Lu Jun, who officiated at the 2002 football World Cup but is now retired, international referee Huang Junjie, women's referee Shen Huangying and local referee Zhou Weixin.

The head of the Chinese Football Association Nan Yong and referees committee chief Zhang Jianqiang were arrested last week for their part in the scandal. The Police have taken in more than 20 other officials.

Wei Di, who has replaced Nan as head of the CFA, says it's not surprising that referees are also involved.
