Joseph Parker's first WBO heavyweight title defence will be at home in New Zealand, according to his opponent British boxer Hughie Fury.

The 25-year-old is set to fight British heavyweight, Hughie Fury, cousin of former world champion, Tyson Fury, in his first title defence in April.

Parkers promoters Duco won the rights to the fight last month and Peter Fury, the trainer and father of Hughie, has said on social media the fight will be in New Zealand.

Hughie Fury has also tweeted "A world title go in the champions home town to take it."

In a recent interview Hughie Fury said the fact he's got a title shot is down to his cousin Tyson.

"Tyson opened up the heavyweight division. He's freed all the belts. All these people wouldn't be having paydays if it wasn't for Tyson and hopefully we should see Tyson back to world titles again...that's the family dream hopefully one day Tyson will come back and we will rule the heavyweight division together."

Duco say no contract has been signed, no venue has been confirmed and negotiations are ongoing.
