The English rugby squad has had their training methods questioned after flanker Sam Jones broke his leg during a judo session while the team was in camp this week.

Wasps flanker Sam Jones, had been called in to the squad for the first time and was in line for his test debut later this year before he broke his leg and suffered a significant ankle injury.

He is expected to be out for five months.

Jones was not the first to suffer an injury, with multiple players going down during the camp, including winger Anthony Watson who was ruled out of the November tests with a broken jaw.

This has lead some to question Eddie Jones's methods, particularly the intensity and timing of the camps.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young tried to distance himself from any criticism, but said the rugby union and clubs need to work together.

"I don't think it's my place to vent my frustration or disappointment about anything that went on through the media, I don't think that's the right way to do it," he said.

"The important thing is that we look at it, we review it and we learn from it. England and the clubs can't go head-to-head on this; we have to work together."
