The Warriors have thrown their hand up as a possible destination for Kieran Foran when the troubled star attempts to revive his National Rugby League career.

The out-of-contract five-eighth, who was last month released from a lucrative deal with Parramatta on compassionate grounds, has endured a horror season which ended with shoulder surgery.

He was also given time off during the year to attend a rehabilitation clinic and deal with personal problems.

One of the brightest talents in rugby league, the 26-year-old is a premiership winner with Manly and a New Zealand international - and remains close with Warriors chief executive Jim Doyle from his time as head of New Zealand Rugby League.

News Corp reported on Tuesday that Doyle was in talks with Foran to lure the star back to his country of birth, and the Warriors boss has since confirmed his interest.

"When Kieran decides he's ready to resume his playing career, we'll certainly be interested in talking to him further," Doyle said in a statement.

"I've talked to Kieran more regularly this year to offer support as he dealt with personal challenges he was facing.

"His wellbeing has been the focus."

The Warriors, grand finalists in 2002 and 2011, boast one of the best rosters in the NRL - with halfback Shaun Johnson and injured fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck among the most dynamic stars in the competition.
