1:06 pm on 18 February 2010

The Hurricanes winger Hosea Gear is expected to be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks after it was confirmed that he'd torn knee ligaments in their opening Super 14 match against the Blues in Albany.

Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper has named a new look locking combination of Bryn Evans and James Broadhurst to meet the Western Force in Wellington on Saturday night, while David Smith in for Gear is the only change in the backline.

Gear was dangerous every time he got the ball in the Blues match and Cooper says he's a big loss....

Meanwhile All Black number eight Rodney So'oialo is back after being given time to work on his body... he's been named to come off the bench.
