Vettori defends Shakib dismissal

The New Zealand cricket captain, Dan Vettori, says the Black Caps have nothing to apologise for after the controversial dismissal of his Bangladesh counterpart on the third day of the one-off test in Hamilton.

Shakib Al Hasan was given out after he and Mahommed Mahmudallah had added 145 for the seventh wicket,

Bangladesh was dismissed for 408, avoiding the follow on thanks to a maiden test century from Mahmudallah and 84 from Shakib before he edged a ball from Chris Martin.

Replays showed it bounced just before the wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum stretched forward to catch it.

Vettori says the batsman had a right to ask for the decision to be referred to the third umpire but didn't.
