Swiss curling team has gear stolen

6:57 pm on 11 February 2010

The Swiss Olympic women's curling team has been robbed, with their van broken into and captain Mirjam Ott's kit stolen.

The incident happened in downtown Winnipeg.

As well as the van's GPS system being taken, Ott lost her Olympic team backpack which contained her Swiss team pants, shirts, jacket, shoes and mitts.

Her supplier will replace the stolen gear, but she says the replacement shoes won' likely arrive in time for the start of the curling events in Vancouver next week.

Ott has been robbed in Canada before. While playing in Vernon three years ago, her hotel room was broken into and thieves made off with some cash.
