The national track cycling championships get underway in Invercargill today with most of the candidates for the Commonwealth Games track team in action but not Hayden Roulston.
The double Olympic medallist is rejoining his HTC Columbia professional team after competing in the Tour Downunder.
Roulton says it's a real shame he couldn't make it to Invercargill but the timing's just too tight.
Pursuiters Sam Bewley and Jesse Sergent have also been given dispensation with both competing for their professional road teams overseas.
And the former Omnium world champiom, Hayden Godrey, has had to withdraw after being hit by a vehicle while training.
Today's action includes the time trials with the Kilo Time Trial the feature of the evening programme.
