Batting first in Mohali the White Ferns posted 177-3 with captain Susie Bates top scoring with 82.
In reply Ireland could only reach 84-5.
Leg spinner was the most successful of the New Zealand bowlers taking two wickets.
The White Ferns had a comfortable win over Sri Lanka in their first match of the tournament and play Australia in game three on Monday night in Nagpur.
