The New Zealand Breakers forward Tony Ronaldson, known as 'The Bear', has called time on his Australian National Basketball League career, confirming that this season with the Breakers will be his last in the ANBL.
Ronaldson says he decided to call it quits because he wasn't happy with his recent form and felt the time was right to end a career that stretches back 20 years and 662 games.
Amongst the many records Ronaldson holds is the greatest number of games by any player in the ANBL.
Ronaldson also figures highly on most top ten lists of statistics in the Australian competition, this season going past 10,000 career points at 15.4 per game.
The 37-year-old says has no regrets in the game and says his career highlights were winning two ANBL championships and claiming gold for Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Ronaldson says he's thought about the future but as yet, is undecided about where it will take him.
He says he will stay involved in the media and has an interest in the construction industry.
Ronaldson will suit up at home at least two more times, starting this Thursday night against the Wollongong Hawks in a must-win game for the Breakers.
A victory will keep the championship dream alive for the club, and for the departing Tony Ronaldson.
