Sweden's Robert Karlsson won the $3.5 million Qatar Masters by three shots from Spaniard Alvaro Quiros at the Doha Golf Club.
Karlsson shot a brilliant bogey-free seven under par 65 in the final round for 15 under overall, while last year's winner Quiros shot a 67 for a total of 12 under.
Australian Brett Rumford, the leader after the second round, was a further shot back on 11 under with England's Lee Westwood in a tie for third.
Karlsson, who became the first Swedish player to capture the Harry Vardon Trophy as Europe's number one in 2008, suffered a frustrating 2009 when he missed several months of action due to blurred vision in his left eye caused by fluid build-up in his retina.
Wellington's Mark Brown dropped back to a share of 45th, 17 shots off the winner, after blowing out to a three over 75, level with Rotorua's Danny Lee who improved five places after a par final round.
