Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for two matches and fined more than $1000 following a red card he picked up during the football club's 2-0 win over Malaga.
Ronaldo scored both goals for Real before he was sent off for elbowing Malaga defender Patrick Mtiliga in the nose.
Mtiliga suffered a broken nose in the clash, but Ronaldo says he didn't elbow him intentionally and maintains the red card was unfair.
But the Spanish football league disciplinary committee says it's handed down the two-match suspension because Ronaldo resorted to dangerous play resulting in injury to an opponent.
It's the second dismissal of the season for Ronaldo, who was sent off in a 4-2 win over Almeria last month for kicking out at an opponent.
