Henry not even getting a hand slap over Irish exit

Football's world governing body FIFA has decided the France captain Thierry Henry won't be punished over the handball which led to the decisive goal in the World Cup qualifying playoff against Ireland in November.

Henry's handball sparked one of the biggest outcries in the competition's history - but FIFA says there's no legal foundation for the committee to consider the case because handling the ball can't be regarded as a serious infringement.

Henry's part in the goal has been widely compared to Diego Maradona's so-called "Hand of God" effort for Argentina against England at the 1986 World Cup.
