Victory over Counties was enough to pip Tasman for second qualifying place in the ITM Cup's Premiership, and the Aucklanders now host the Makos next weekend at Eden Park.

The other semi-final will be hosted by Canterbury, which beat Southland 39-20 after already topping the Premiership ladder, with nine wins from 10 games.

Canterbury confirmed their favouritism for the Premiership with their ninth win in 10 games, but they coughed up a 20-0 lead before racing away at the back end, in the five tries to two victory.

The Lions finish second on the second-tier Championship table, and will host a home semi-final next week against Otago, while top Championship side Hawke's Bay host Bay of Plenty, despite losing the Ranfurly Shield to Waikato in their final round robin game.
