The Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant that Michael Owen, who is desperate to feature in the World Cup, has a future at Old Trafford.
Despite a Champions League hat-trick against Wolfsburg, Owen has been on the bench for United's last three games and last week was even overlooked in favour of new recruit Mame Biram Diouf at Birmingham.
Owen's frustrations would not have been eased by the ongoing concerns over Dimitar Berbatov, whose form has been affected by a lingering knee injury.
Ferguson says it's just about the blend with your strikers... sometimes, with the strength I have got in midfield, it suits us to play with one striker and we like to see Wayne Rooney through the middle.
