The Te Awamutu cyclist Rushlee Buchanan has won the women's road race at the national road championships in Christchurch.
Buchanan, who rides for a US professional team and is a member of the New Zealand track team, broke away from the field midway through the 123km ride to finish well ahead of the Auckland pair of Linda Villumsen and Katie Boyd.
The men's race is tomorrow.
