Peterhansel rebounds to win sixth stage in Dakar rally

The French driver Stephane Peterhansel's rebounded from losing over two hours in the Dakar Rally midweek, by winning the sixth stage in Chile.

Peterhansel, who experienced major mechanical problems and lost his place at the top of the standings, finished 47 seconds ahead of Spain's former world rally champion Carlos Sainz, who'd replaced the Frenchman in the overall lead.

Sainz still leads by more than 15 minutes from his nearest rival, with Peterhansel more than two hours back.

The latest stage was marred by a serious head injury suffered by Italian motorcycle rider Luca Manca who crashed.
