The lawyer representing Chris Cairns says he's at a loss to explain the former New Zealand cricket international's dropping from a list of players put forward for this year's Indian Premier League player auction.
The IPL commissioner Lalit Modi had Cairns pulled from the auction list amid allegations of a link to alleged match fixing during his time in the rebel Indian Cricket League.
But Cairns' lawyer, Andrew Fitch-Holland, says it was the IPL which initally approached Cairns to play.
Cairns is now threatening legal action, as Fitch-Holland says the comments are profoundly damaging.
