The South Sydney and Kiwis hooker Issac Luke will be the first player to challenge the National Rugby League's new shoulder charge law interpretations.
Luke will miss Friday night's National Rugby League match against Canterbury after taking an early guilty plea on a dangerous throw charge from their last-start win over North Queensland.
However he will contest a his shoulder charge on Johnathan Thurston at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night.
If Luke fails to have that charge dropped he'll miss a further two games and won't be back until the finals.
It is the first time an NRL player will challenge a shoulder charge since the governing body altered its interpretation of the illegal tackle a fortnight ago.
