ASB Tennis Classic reaches quarterfinal stage

The ASB women's tennis classic has reached the quarterfinal stage with only three seeds remaining in the final eight.

The most interesting encounter has third seed Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium playing against 39-year-old Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan.

A top ten player 15 years ago Date Krumm, showed in eliminating the fifth seed and 2008 finalist Virginie Razzano of France that she can't be taken lightly.

First up on court Israel's Shahar Peer against Russia's Maria Kirilenko.

Top seed Flavia Pennetta plays the in-form Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova PRON Si-bull-Kova for a place in the semi finals.

The fourth-seeded Italian Francesca Schiavone plays Alize Cornet, the Frenchwoman who is returning to the form taht had her just outside the top ten less than a year ago.
