No action over alleged ball interference

The International Cricket Council won't take any action against England players for allegedly interfering with the ball during the third cricket Test against South Africa at Newlands.

Television pictures showed fast bowler Stuart Broad stopping, then stepping on the ball with his spikes, while fellow fast bowler James Anderson appeared to tamper with the seam.

But the ICC says the match umpires had viewed the footage and decided not to bring a charge against any player while no official complaint was made by the South Africa side.

English newspapers meanwhile reported that the suggestions of foul play had infuriated the England camp.

The Daily Telegraph reported that England was furious while The Sun claimed that captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower were angry.
