The chief executive of the English football club, Portsmouth, Peter Storrie is confident the Premier League players will be paid their December wages early this week.

For the third time this season financially troubled Portsmouth - the Premier League's bottom club - have been unable to pay their players.

But Storrie insists Portsmouth's Saudi owner Ali Al-Faraj and his directors are close to agreeing a loan that will allow the salaries to be paid this week.
