Both New Zealanders in action in today's first round of qualfying for next week's ASB Classic have been unsuccessful.
Auckland's Kairanga Vano has lost 6-4,7-6 to France's Severine Bremond while Canterbury's Ellen Barry has also been defeated 7-5, 6-2 by Stephannie Cohen-Aloro of France.
