West Indies' Jerome Taylor arrested in Jamaica

12:20 pm on 1 January 2010

West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor has been charged with disorderly conduct following a scuffle at a bar in Jamaica.

Police sergeant Clifford Evans says Taylor became abusive after the proprietor was told to close the bar because it was past an 11pm cutoff.

Evans said Taylor assaulted him when he tried to place the 25-year-old in handcuffs shortly after midnight.

He was charged with using indecent language, resisting arrest, improper conduct and assaulting a police officer.

He was released on bond and scheduled to appear in court on January 12.

Taylor was forced to head home early from the recent tour of Australia after suffering a back injury.
