McCullum injury cloud lifted

New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum seems untroubled by the arm injury inflicted during the Black Caps' win over Australia.

McCullum was struck on his left arm by a short pitched delivery from Australia's Mitchell Johnson in the World Cup pool game, but the captain trained freely on Wednesday in Napier, where New Zealand will meet Afghanistan on Sunday.

Despite McCullum's arm being swollen and bruised, Black Caps all-rounder Corey Anderson says McCullum was at his explosive best on Wednesday morning at a net session in Hawke's Bay.

McCullum could be rested for Sunday's game if New Zealand coach Mike Hesson decides to use some or all of the four members of his World Cup squad who are yet to play a game in the tournament.

They are Kyle Mills, Nathan McCullum, Mitchell McClenaghan and Tom Latham.
