The International Cricket Council chief executive David Richardson has been reported as saying that the Twenty20 event will be based in both countries for the first time, in 2020.

But the ICC's own schedule, announced in 2013, says that Australia alone will host the T-20 tournament.

And New Zealand Cricket has confirmed it's a mistake, and the Australians alone will host the event.

It's been 23 years since the two nations hosted a major cricket event, the 1992 World Cup.

The one day World Cup begins on Saturday here when the Black Caps host Sri Lanka at Christchurch's Hagley Oval.
