Another day of toil ahead of home bowlers

6:01 am on 14 December 2009

The New Zealand cricketers are still well in charge of the deciding test against Pakistan, but they still need 10 wickets going into day four on an increasingly docile McLean Park pitch in Napier.

Trailing by 248 runs on the first innings, Pakistan's openers Imran Farhat and Salman Butt had wiped out more than half the deficit last night in an unbroken opening partnership of 128.

Only four wickets fell yesterday - skipper Daniel Vettori leading the way with 134, Brendon McCullum 89. and pace bowler Darryl Tuffey ran up a career best unbeaten 80 in the Black Caps first innings of 471.
