The Hurricanes rugby coach Colin Cooper has signed a 2-year deal to coach the Taranaki team in the Air New Zealand Cup.
The Taranaki Daily News is reporting that the Taranaki Rugby Union received a late application from Cooper and that he was offered the job without any of the other applicants getting an interview.
Cooper had recently said that the upcoming Super 14 season would be his last.
Cooper will have coached the Hurricanes for 8 years.
