Track cyclist Tom Scully has claimed New Zealand's third gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the men's 40km points race in Glasgow.
Team-mate Aaron Gate took the bronze in the same event on another sterling day on the track for New Zealand athletes.
Scully's 2010 Commonwealth Games dream was shattered when he crashed during the Tour of Ireland months out from the Delhi games.
The 24-year-old says it makes today's gold medal triumph all the more sweeter and says he was always determined to keep riding after the disappointed of 2010.
"You get past it and then you just get on with it. I never considered not coming back and no one ever really expects it to happen but you just have to get on with it."
Tom Scully also paid tribute to teammates Gate and Shane Archbold, who came 9th, for pushing him along.
"I mean had some awesome support out there from my two teammates, my two really good mates Aaron and Shane, so I just can't thank them enough for that, they really turned in their race for me tonight."
Simon van Velthooven earlier claimed silver in the men's 1000m time trial, finishing just ahead of compatriot and bronze medal winner Matt Archibald.
