Third time lucky for Ferns shooter

The Silver Ferns shooter Jodi Brown will be among one of the more relieved athletes at the Commonwealth Games, having finally made it into the Games village eight years later than she should have.

Injury forced her out of the New Zealand team the day before the New Zealanders were to go into the Melbourne Games village in 2006.

She was set to be part of the Delhi squad four years later but missed out on another gold medal when she made herself unavailable for family reasons.

A couple of weeks ago the trans-Tasman side the Southern Steel ended Brown's three year tenure with the side, who she captained, but Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu says Brown is in a good frame of mind.

New Zealand's first game of the tournament is against Malawi on Friday evening, NZ time.
