The defending Tour de France champion Chris Froome will have his wrist x-rayed after crashing heavily during the fourth stage.
Froome crashed only five kilometres into the 163-kilometre stage from Le Touquet.
He suffered extensive bruising to the left side of his body from the hip to the knee, and his left wrist was hurting, but his teammates helped him re-establish contact with the main bunch.
The Englishman is fifith overall, just two seconds behind the overall leader Vincenzo Nibali.
