Great day for Brawn GP

6:02 pm on 19 October 2009

Brawn GP has become the first team to win the Formula One constructors' championship in their first full season.

It was a day to celebrate for Brawn with Jenson Button finishing 5th at the Brazilian Grand Prix to also clinch the drivers title.

The Mercedes-powered team competed as Honda last year, they changed name after the Japanese manufacturer announced in December that they were pulling out of the sport and sold the team in a management buyout led by principal Ross Brawn.

Ross Brawn won world titles with seven-times champion Michael Schumacher as Benetton and Ferrari technical director, and had a special word for his new world champion Jenson Button, who started the season so well with 6 wins in the first 7 races, but then faulted.
