USA golfers edge ahead in President's Cup

The United States golfers are one point ahead of the Internationals at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco.

Phil Mickelson and Justin Leonard won for the holders on day two, in thefourball competition, beating Retief Goosen and Adam Scott 3 and 2.

But Ernie Els and Mike Weir got one back for the Internationals over Anthony Kim and Jim Furyk, and the days play ended with the honours evenly split.

The pairings of Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods, and Zach Johnson and Hunter Mahan won for the USA , while Ryo Ishikawa and Y.E. Yang, and Vijay Singh and Tim Clark, took their matches for the challengers.

The Americans lead the biennial tournament 6 and a half to 5 and a half.
