Fulham and Cardiff both gave themselves an English Premier League football lifeline as they clinched vital victories.

Third from bottom Fulham beat Norwich 1-0 through a Hugo Rodallega goal and Juan Cala gave second from bottom Cardiff a 1-0 win at Southampton.

The results mean that with four games apiece remaining, Fulham are now two points behind Norwich, with Cardiff one point further back.

Sunderland are four points adrift at the bottom of the table, though they have two games in hand, after a 1-0 home defeat by Everton, who moved above Arsenal into fourth.

Crystal Palace look safe after beating Aston Villa 1-0, while West Brom conceded a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur, and Stoke beat Newcastle 1-0 in the day's other match.
