Warriors break winless Wellington streak in style

The New Zealand Warriors have snapped their Wellington hoodoo, coming from behind to trounce the Wests Tigers 42-18 and win their first-ever National Rugby League match at Westpac Stadium.

Winless in the capital in six attempts the Auckland based club made it seventh time lucky fighting back from a 12-0 deficit to stun the NRL's form side.

Wing Glen Fisiiahi dotted down four times as the hosts piled on eight tries, including a miracle four-pointer on the stroke of half-time to halfback Shaun Johnson, which turned the match on its head and gave the hosts a 14-12 lead at the break.

Blockbusting centre Konrad Hurrell played a leading hand in several tries and his powerful running proved a handful for the Tigers defence all match as did halfback Shaun Johnson's kicking game.

The 24-point win is the Warriors second victory on the trot and lifts their record to two wins and two losses.

A suspected broken jaw is the only blight on the Warriors' come-from-behind triumph - veteran centre Jerome Ropati is set for another extended spell on the sidelines after being forced from the field in the 12th minute of the match.
