The Canterbury cross country mountainbiker Anton Cooper wants to put a frustrating 2013 behind him as he starts his buildup to this years Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

The 19-year-old former junior world champion has flown out to the United States to start his preparation for the World Cup circuit.

Cooper's performances last year were badly affected by illness and he says he's taken the positives from it.

Cooper says he's looking to be more consistent this year... he'll ride 5 of the 6 under-23 world cups, missing one for the Commonwealth games.

He says he wants to peak for Glasgow in July and the World Champs in September.

The first World Cup event is in South Africa in 3 weeks.
