Two 19-year-olds will make their senior All Whites debuts tonight with Tyler Boyd and Ryan Thomas named to start the international clash with Japan in Tokyo.
Thomas, who plays his club football in the Netherlands, will play on the left side of the New Zealand midfield with his long-time friend and fellow team mate Boyd, of the Wellington Phoenix, named to start up front alongside Leicester City striker Chris Wood.
In the back four, Michael Boxall (Wellington Phoenix) will make his first All Whites appearance since 2012, while Blackburn Rovers' Tim Payne will play in front of the New Zealand defensive group.
All Whites interim head coach Neil Emblen says the side has been picked for a dual purpose; attack with pace when the opportunity arises and pester and stifle their 50th ranked opponents when the home side has possession.
Tonight's encounter brings together the two teams after their original meeting was cancelled as a result of the earthquake which struck Japan in 2011.
