The Sanzar partners have agreed on a new setup for the future of the Super Rugby tournament which will include extra teams from South Africa and Argentina.

Following a meeting in Sydney yesterday the Sanzar executive committee agreed on a preferred model which includes a 6th team from South Africa and a team from Argentina.

Sanzar chief executive Greg Peters says encouraging progress has been made and the model will now be taken to the National Unions for approval before SANZAR presents its final position to broadcasters and fans in due course.

The current broadcast deals expires at the end of 2015.

The addition of the two new teams suggests that the competition will be divided into conferences before a play-off series.
