A day after beating golfer Daniel Popovic at his own game, Ricky Ponting will caddie for the former Australian PGA Championship winner at the Victorian Open.
Former Australian cricket captain Ponting shot an impressive three-under 69 in the pro-am event ahead of the Victorian Open at Thirteenth Beach Golf Club, outplaying his tour pro teammate.
Rather than wallow in the "defeat", Popovic took to Twitter to joke: "Haha he beat me today, maybe should give him a start in the event!"
The pair have become good friends since crossing paths over property purchase last year and regularly play golf together.
And while Ponting, who has a plus-one handicap, will carry world No 541 Popovic's bag this week, he'll be partnering him again as a player in next week's New Zealand Open at Arrowtown.
That tournament is employing a new pro-am format which will also feature ex-Australian skipper Allan Border.
