Big win for junior women's footballers

The New Zealand junior women's footballers have thrashed Vanuatu 12-0 in their opening match of the Oceania Under-20 Championship match in Mangere.

The home nation were untroubled as they led 9-0 at half-time with Martine Puketapu and Emma Rolston each hitting hat-tricks in the first 45 minutes.

Rolston ended the match with four.

New Zealand plays Tonga on Thursday with the winner of the tournament to represent Oceania at the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Canada later this year.

Tonga lost to Papua New Guinea in their opening match.
